Event Definition

An event is anything your group plans that is not a meeting.  The CSD recognizes two kinds of events.  Social events could be lectures, dances, parties, tournaments, movies, rallies, conferences, fundraisers or other activities limited only by your creativity.  Social events can take place on or off campus.  Travel events are trips sponsored by the group and include travel for any purposes beyond the Amherst area.

Organization and teamwork are crucial elements in planning and executing successful event. Make a good plan. Delegate tasks. Keep checking in with each other and changing the plan if you need to. Make sure that one person is not doing all the work. Don't hesitate to offer to help if someone seems overwhelmed. Talk out conflicts before they grow. Most importantly, stop and appreciate each other's efforts as you work together. Creating an event should be inspiring and fun, it should bring your group closer together.

And don't forget your pre-advising meeting with your CSD advisor at the beginning of the planning process!!!
